Top Tips

  • Offer a range that caters to different shoppers:
Shoppers are looking for different types of snacks. Choose the best-selling products, such as Grenade protein bars, to maximise the return on your shelf space. Provide different healthier snacking options, such as cereal and naturally nutritional products to offer choice to the customer.
  • Dedicate space to your best-selling range:
Ensure that best-selling products are given enough space in your store. Protein bars are the most popular healthier snack, with a high rate of sale and a great cash return compared to other snacks, so ensure they take priority over poorer selling products.
  • Have an unmissable display:
One of the main reasons for shoppers not picking up a protein bar in-store is because they couldn’t find what they were looking for. Protein bars are an impulse purchase, so merchandise your range in an impulse location where shoppers are looking for their snacks, often best alongside confectionery.
  • Use point-of-sale to help the shopper find the fixture:
Shelf stripping and aisle fins are a great way to showcase the range and help a shopper find what they are looking for.
  • Healthier choices peak at different times of the year:
Consider that shoppers are looking for healthier snacks more at key times in the year such as post-Christmas and through the spring and summer. Stock up on your snacks ahead of these periods and make sure they are easy-to-find in impulse locations.
  • Innovation is important:
Make sure you are staying up-to-date with the best-selling new flavours. Grenade OREO White protein bar has fast become as popular as its Grenade OREO Milk counterpart, so ensure you are offering these new products to shoppers.

Retailer testimonial

“Protein bars, in particular Grenade, are popular sellers in my store. Although I was sceptical to buy in at first, we now can sell up to four cases a month of different flavours. These are usually picked up by regular customers, as well as passing ones, and we have them available at different places around the store, such as on the counter and next to the hot drinks machine. I would highly recommend stocking a range of protein bars in your store!”
