Lincolnshire Police has seized suspected illicit tobacco and vape products from a store in Sleaford.

According to Lincolnshire Police, an officer visited Fresh Fruit and Grocery Mini Market in Southgate, Sleaford, on routine enquiries for another incident unrelated to the store, when he saw the shop worker about to sell vapes to children while he was on the premises.

The officer intervened and noticed that the vapes offered were not compliant with UK regulations, with the offending products offering between 4,000 and 10,000 puffs per vape.

This led to the local Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) being called in to help search the premises for any further illicit goods and finding suspected illicit cigarettes. The authorities seized 14 sacks full of vapes and cigarettes from the shop.

The case has been passed to Lincolnshire Trading Standards to investigate, as the agency with primacy to deal with illegal trading in the county.
