We're on the lookout to find the UK's best c-stores. Read on to find out how you can be in the running

It's that time of year again - time to seek out and reward the very best retailers in the convenience retailing industry. But this year's awards are bigger, better, and under the new name of the Convenience Retail Awards.
And it's not just the name that's changed. We've also launched a new category to reward larger c-stores of up to 10,000sq ft, and revamped the categories to better reflect the nature of the convenience retailing sector.
But while Convenience Store's annual awards have a new image and some new categories, the objective remains the same - to recognise excellence, achievement and individuality across the entire industry, from unaffiliated independents and symbols to multiple c-store groups with 10 stores or more.
Like last year, the 2008 Awards are being staged jointly with our sister magazine The Grocer, and will culminate in a fantastic dinner and awards ceremony at London's Marriott Grosvenor Square on March 13, 2008. All the arrangements are in place - all we need now are some winners.
This is where you come in. If you thrive on the highest of retail standards and are proud of your store, staff and service, we want to hear from you.
Request an official entry form today by calling our dedicated awards hotline on 01293 867654 or by visiting the website, fill it in and return it to us by November 9, 2007.

Awards categories

The awards are split into four categories: INDEPENDENT, INDEPENDENT SYMBOL, MULTIPLE and LARGE STORE.
Independents are not affiliated to any one wholesaler or symbol group, and are either standalone stores or part of a group of nine stores or fewer.
Independent symbols are those stores that are in independent ownership either as single outlets or as part of a chain of nine stores or fewer, but trade under a wholesaler fascia and derive benefits from a symbol group head office.
Multiples are stores that belong to a chain of 10 or more outlets in the same ownership, whether they trade under their own brand or that of a symbol or fascia group.
NEW Large convenience store Stores in this category can be under independent, independent symbol, or multiple ownership, and are 3,000sq ft to 10,000sq ft in size.
Each of these categories are sub-divided by trading location:
Village/neighbourhood
City/town/high street
Each of these winners will then be considered for one of four national titles:
Best Independent Store
Best Independent Symbol Store
Best Multiple Store
Best Large Convenience Store
From these, one overall winner will be selected as Convenience Retailer of the Year 2008.
If you are particularly proud of one or more sections of your store, you can also enter any of the special category awards, regardless of whether you apply for one of the main Convenience Retail Awards categories.
Not only that, we have our Zero Tolerance Award for Crime Prevention, the Wholesale Business Initiative of the Year, Product of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award and Best Independent News Trader. More on those at a later date.
