The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) is calling on convenience retailers to take part in the 2024 Crime Survey and share their experiences of retail crime over the past 12 months.

The survey explores the impact and scale of crime across the convenience sector, looking at the number of incidents experienced and the steps that retailers have been taking to try and reduce crime in their stores, such as investment in crime prevention measures.

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “Crime is one of the biggest issues faced by our colleagues and local shops are now facing these incidents on a daily basis. These incidents are unacceptable and have a dramatic impact on the individuals, businesses and communities involved.

“We are calling on convenience retailers to take part in this survey to provide us with an accurate picture of the extent and the severity of this issue so that we can make sure that our sector’s voice is heard when we speak to Government.”

The deadline for responses is 12 January 2024 and the survey is available here.
