Fit Kitchen healthy meals are being introduced to the readymade meal market.

Developed with nutritionist Sharmain Davis and Professional MasterChef winner Ash Mair, Fit Kitchen has created a range of delicious readymade meals (rrp £3.80), fulfilling the growing consumer demand for intrinsically healthy, convenient products.

Available from January, the range includes Pad Thai Chicken with Zesty Sauce, Middle Eastern Grilled Chicken, Malaysian Grilled Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken.

Each meal is high in protein, vitamin and fibre, but low in calories and saturated fat. Each meal also contributes to three out your five a day.

Sales director Daniel Litchfield, said: “We have seen a number of markets respond to the growing interest in for positive wellness, changing their offering based on a smarter, more health conscious approach to diet and exercise. Following the trend of what has been done well by within other food categories, we looked to create something truly healthy in chilled fresh food with Fit Kitchen; rather than just a calorie deficit and bland tasting meal with no nutritional values.

“The Fit Kitchen brand is predominately targeting people that don’t diet, they simply choose to eat healthily to support their active lifestyle. We have made the packaging clear, youthful and bright, as we know the growing interest in health, food and fitness has become typically gender neutral. We are excited to be leading the development of this category, championing the importance of healthy options, even in the readymade meal market.”

  • I bought one of your pad Thai meals from Sainsbury's, I normally don't spend that much on ready meals but I am on weight watchers and I had it as an alternative to a takeout. I have a Thai shop in my town and I have been to others to I had a clear expectation of what pad Thai tastes like. Your product tastes like it had gone bad. There is no excuse for healthy food to taste bad, especially when it is a ready meal. I don't understand why it tasted nothing like Thai food. I was very disappointed and as I had already pointed it I eat the chicken (which was bland) and went hungry.

  • I read Louise's comment and reviews on the Sainsbury website and wanted to say that I think these meals are a great addition to the marketplace and do exactly what they say they are going to do: give you a healthy meal that is high in protein, vitamins (2 or 3 of your 5 a day) and fibre and low in saturated fat, calories and carbs. If you want pad thai to taste like pad thai then you are eating 800+ calories. If you want a healthy meal with a nod to a known recipe then these are for you.

  • I absolutely love the idea of your meals and I have been eating one a day over the past few weeks. However, I think the sauces are not great and it would be super if you could introduce meals with a protein other than chicken, such as salmon. I really hope you expand your offering! If you need a taster contact me.

  • I've tried the Malay chicken and Kung Pao Chicken and neither tasted authentic.
The veg was stringy and tough the chicken lacked any flavour at all and the overall taste was very, very bland.
The products are over priced and not worth purchasing.
I can make a much better version myself in 20 mins!
    Poor show guys!
