Enterosgel has launched a drug-free prevention treatment against upset stomachs, food poisoning, diarrhoea and ‘travellers’ tummy bugs’.

Enterosgel helps to remove bacterial toxins from the gut within 12 hours. Suitable for consumption for babies, children and adults, the gel is taken as a drink by mixing with water, an hour before food. The gel doesn’t enter the bloodstream and is not absorbed into the body, but travels through the digestive system.

The new product is available from wholesalers Sigma Pharmaceutical, Skills in Healthcare (Alliance group), Tree of Life, The Health Store, GD Cooper and Veggie Mart. (225g rrp £19.70, 90g rrp £12.80, 10x15g Sachets rrp £19.70).

EnteroMed Ltd CEO Elena Markaryan said: “Travellers’ diarrhoea is the most common health problem for overseas travellers, affecting an estimated 20-60% of those who travel to higher risk destinations. It can cause substantial disruption to holidays, travel plans or business trips. Around 20% of patients are confined to bed for one or two days, 40% have to change their itinerary and 1% are admitted to hospital.

“Many people use loperamide whilst travelling, which is not suitable for children under 12 years and has unpleasant side effects. However, drug-free Enterosgel is safe for the whole family to use from birth. Enterosgel oral suspension provides effective relief from diarrhoea, food poisoning, travellers’ tummy bugs and upset stomachs. It is recommended by World Health Organisation specialists in cases of food poisoning.”
