Energizer has launched the world’s first battery made with 4% recycled battery material.

The new EcoAdvanced battery is Energizer’s highest-performing alkaline battery yet. It took its team of scientists seven years to create and is now available in both AA and AAA battery varieties.

The new batteries are currently being stocked at Palmer and Harvey and have an rrp of £4.99.

Martin Burch, senior director of international marketing, said: “Our future innovations will continue to reduce the impact Energizer batteries have on the planet. By 2025, our vision for Energizer EcoAdvanced is to increase the amount of recycled battery material ten-fold to 40%.

“Being able to make new high performing batteries using recycled battery content to reduce waste is Energizer’s first step in creating value for recycled battery materials – which until today had little use or economic worth. We hope this will encourage people to further to recycle their used batteries.”
