Close to half (49%) of small business owners believe simplified government business support schemes should be targeted more at them and less at big business, a survey has found.
In addition, some 53% of those questioned by the Federation of Small Businesses said they thought there was a need to remove big business from all services and half wanted a service geared to the small business sector.
The survey also found that government services are incorrectly branded, with 47% unaware of government-funded support services.
The government is currently reducing its business support services from about 3,000 to just 100.
