Scottish retailer Semichem has introduced a new rapid-delivery trial in partnership with Snappy Shopper, giving customers in six Scottish towns the option to receive products from their local store in under an hour.

The move is part of the retailer’s developing strategy “aimed at strengthening the role of local high streets while testing new fulfilment models that drive convenience and incremental sales,” it said.

Through Snappy Shopper, shoppers can now place orders for delivery to an address within a three-mile radius of participating Semichem, with items picked, packed and fulfilled in-store. The partnership ensures spend remains local by directing online orders through local teams and high-street branches.

The pilot is going live in Broxburn, Whitburn, Kirkintilloch, Coatbridge, Hamilton and Paisley, forming the first phase of the rollout.

Initially focused on Christmas gifting, the trial offers ready-to-gift packaging on all fragrance orders. Semichem plans to expand to its full range in early 2026.

Brian Tonner, senior online development manager at Semichem, said: “The high street remains central to the communities we serve. This partnership allows us to keep that local focus while introducing the convenience customers expect from modern retail. Shoppers can support their local Semichem and still receive their order within the hour.”

Mike Callachan, CEO of Snappy Shopper, added: “Semichem is a well-known and trusted high street brand in Scotland, and we’re delighted to welcome them to the Snappy Shopper platform.”

The partnership supports the “wider hyperlocal retail movement, leveraging technology to enhance store reach, improve customer choice, and keep community spend within Scottish high streets,” a release stated.
