A new Go Local Extra store has launched in Thorne, Doncaster, led by independent retailer Indarprit ‘Billy’ Singh (above).

The 2,600 sq.ft. store opened in February following a switch from the Londis fascia and marks Billy’s second store with Parfetts and Go Local. He opened his first Go Local in the village in 2021.

The new store has been refitted to create more selling space and a stronger convenience offer for local customers. Additional racking has been installed, alongside a new freezer to grow the frozen range and a dedicated beer chiller for alcopops and the fast-growing ready-to-drink category.

Billy has also embraced Parfetts’ promotional programme across both of his stores, using “value-led deals to increase footfall and drive repeat custom from the local community,” Parfetts said.

Billy said: “Moving this store to Go Local Extra felt like the right step for the business. We already had a strong relationship with Parfetts through our other shop, so we knew what the team could deliver. The promotions are working well across both stores, and customers are already responding positively to the new look and expanded range.

“The refit has allowed us to make better use of the space and bring in a much stronger food to go offer. Coffee, hot food and bakery lines are already proving popular, and we’re confident the store will continue to grow as more customers discover what we have in store.”

The Thorne launch adds to the growing number of Go Local Extra stores nationwide as Parfetts continues to invest in its symbol group and “support independent retailers looking to develop modern convenience stores tailored to local needs,” it concluded.
