National Lottery sales increased by £54.9m in 2007/08, an increase of 1.1% on the previous 12 months.
Retail continues to be by far the largest lottery channel, accounting for more than 90% of sales. Lottery operator Camelot praised retailers for their efforts, which increased total sales to £4.9bn and returns to good causes to £1.3bn.
Driven by new scratchcard games, sales of non-draw-based games increased by 19.6% to £1.1bn. Retailers will see commission earned on scratchcards increase from 5% to 6% when the new licence begins in 2009.
