Harry Goraya had the shock of his life when he got an electricity bill from EDF for £18K. When Harry bought the premises, at Gravesend in Kent, three years ago, he had the meter changed to a three-phase supply. He was billed quarterly and paid all his bills, until he got the insulting £18K one. His direct debit has been doubled to take account of a new tariff and meanwhile he got an 'updated' bill, this time for £31K.
His bank will stump up only £15K, and a relative has offered to lend him £5K, but guess what? EDF says it's all or nothing.
Harry says: "I can't believe they won't accept £20K - that they would prefer to close me down."
More on this later.
