Given the number of rules and regs and their forever updating, changing face, it’s no wonder we can’t all keep up. Mahesh Patel rang from Yogi Smurti Newsagents in London’s Shepherd’s Bush to say that he had heard that CCTV evidence has not been allowed in prosecutions since the end of this February. 

This didn’t ring any bells with me, but I double-checked in that I rang the Home Offi ce only to be told to ring the Ministry of Justice, where the truth will out. “There is no statutory prohibition on the use of CCTV evidence,” said a spokesman. “Admissibility is determined by the courts on a case by case basis.”
