Vape Supplier app w recycling bin

Distributor Vape Supplier has partnered with environmental specialist Valpak to launch a “ready-to-go” vape recycling solution, which offers convenience retailers a simple way to meet new legal requirements around vape disposal.

As per government guidelines, retailers selling over £100,000 worth of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) per year must offer an in-store solution for vape disposal. Vape Supplier customers can order either a countertop or floor standing vape bin via the firm’s VSL Trade App. A smaller bin costs £35+VAT and a larger unit costs £65+VAT. Retailers then pay £160+VAT or £220+VAT respectively for each collection.

An option to sign up to the Distributor Takeback Scheme, operated by Valpak, at a cost of £74+VAT is also available through the app for retailers selling less than £100,000 worth of EEE.

James Beard, head of voluntary compliance at Valpak, said: “We believe that by partnering with Vape Supplier, we can provide a comprehensive solution to the convenience sector, allowing retailers to meet their recycling obligations efficiently and cost-effectively.”

Several thousand retailers are already signed up to the VSL Trade App, which claims to offer “every flavour of every vape brand” and promises free next day delivery with a full VAT invoice for orders over £250. The app also flags up new product launches and educates users on best sellers within each brand.

Since launching one year ago, the app has expanded its offer beyond vapes, to other fast-selling lines, such as tobacco accessories, batteries and drinks. The firm claims to have some of the most competitive prices in the industry and states that product legality and compliance are a top priority.

Vape Supplier general manager Jane Buxton said: “We understand the challenges that independent retailers face in today’s market, and we’re proud to offer them an easy-to-use tool that streamlines their ordering process, helps them stay competitive, and ensures they can deliver the best experience to their customers.

“We always only have 100% legal products on our app so retailers can have confidence that what they buy from us is all registered on the MHRA [Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency] portal.

“We receive undertakings from the manufacturers themselves on every order we receive, that the product is fully compliant with UK regulations. We also conduct randomised testing of each brand’s products we receive for nicotine strength and fill level, to ensure all our products are compliant.”
