Sweet Freedom’s new Choc Pot Hazelnot is free of additives and could make a big diffeence to UK diets.

This year, plant-based brand Sweet Freedom is using Pancake Day this year (17 February) to highlight the wider impact of our everyday food choices, and what happens when much-loved - but often unhealthy - classics becomes everyday habits.

Pancake Day is one of the UK’s biggest at-home food occasions, with millions of households reaching for chocolate spreads to top their stacks.

With the launch of Choc Pot Hazelnot, made with no refined sugar, palm oil, nuts and or dairy, Sweet Freedom is showing how a simple swap - enjoyed on Pancake Day and beyond - can deliver the same indulgence but with far less impact on the body and planet than other chocolate spreads.

It adds that if spreads like Choc Pot Hazelnot became the everyday norm, Sweet Freedom estimates the potential annual category-level impact could include 32bn calories and 3,200 tonnes of fat cut from UK diets each year.

Nadine Maggi, managing director at Sweet Freedom, said: “Our aim is to make better choices the easy, everyday option. By reworking familiar products like chocolate spreads, we can cut unnecessary ingredients without taking away the indulgence and occasions people love.”

Sweet Freedom’s new jars of Choc Pot Hazelnot carry an RRP of £3.35.
