Hou, the UK’s first sweet houmous for dipping and spreading, has launched in the UK.

Initially, three flavours will be available in the new chilled dip range: Choc-o-chick, Mixed Berry and Banoffee.

Each flavour is vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free.

The range is recommended to be retailed at £2.99 per pot, offering a margin of 38% and is set to expand the UK’s booming £180m a year chilled dips market.

Until now, sweet houmous hasn’t been available in the UK, but Hou Co-Founders Harry Tyndall and Jake Finn are hoping to fulfil a market niche.

Tyndall said: “A pot of houmous is in everyone’s weekly shopping basket – we’ve become a nation of houmous lovers! We believe there is scope for substantial volume growth for the market with the introduction of Hou as a delicious and healthy sweet option.”

Finn said: “We see the three flavours as perfect alternatives to chocolate spread, almond butter and jam spreads. Hou is such a versatile product and can be used either for breakfast, as a snack or a dessert.”
