Spar retailers are once again supporting Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal with a range of in-store fundraising events throughout March.

Stores will be selling daffodil pins with a suggested donation of £1 each while employees will dress up for special “Go Yellow” days.

Donations from the sales of a number of well-known brands including Daz, Hartley’s jam, McVities biscuits, Mars pouches and Spar-branded coffee will also be added to the fundraising pot, which last year raised more than £640,000 for charity.

The campaign will also be heavily supported on Spar radio and social media.

For every donation given and every daffodil worn, Marie Curie can provide more free care to people living with a terminal illness and their families, Spar UK marketing controller Laura McNally said.

“This is a great opportunity to raise money for this fantastic cause and get behind our national charity partner. Marie Curie’s nurses help people living with terminal illnesses and their families to make the most of the time they have left.

“Our retailers are helping everyone have the care and support they need at the end of their life, by supporting Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal,” sheadded.

Helen Stock, senior corporate account manager at Marie Curie, added: “We are thrilled that Spar stores getting behind Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal this year. The money raised from all these wonderful activities will ensure Marie Curie can continue providing vital support across the UK for people with a terminal illness and their families.”
