A London store trader has had to pay out more than £2,000 after selling alcohol to a 16-year-old in a test purchase sting.
Newham Council prosecuted Ali Kekec, of Zaga Superstore in Forest Gate, after a young volunteer was sold two bottles of Bacardi Breezer.
On top of a £500 fine he was found liable for £1,500 costs and a victim surcharge of £15.
Newham councillor Andrew Baikie warned that the council would prosecute any business that "flouted" the law.
He said: "It is unacceptable that there are businesses in the borough that are selling alcohol to children."
