Newspaper and magazine supplier Menzies Distribution has pledged to improve its service after a volume of complaints from retailers.
Menzies' management met with representatives of the National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN) after a large number of retailers called the NFRN's helpline to complain about the distributor's performance. The NFRN is providing Menzies with a weekly report of its members' comments received through the helpline.
Menzies wholesale director Tom Boyle said he took on board the criticisms levelled at the company and agreed that a range of changes made at a number of its depots in recent weeks had not gone as well as he had hoped. Menzies was fully committed to implementing solutions to restore good service as a matter of urgency, he said.
