Landmark Wholesale's Hot House retail development scheme has reached the milestone of its 2,000th store conversion.

The programme, which started as a category management exercise with 16 pilot stores in the West Midlands in 2005, has grown to become the UK's third biggest symbol group in terms of outlet numbers. More than 50 suppliers are now involved as partners, offering best practice advice and equipment solutions to independent retailers.

Sundeep 'Sunny' Singh of Jay's Cabin in Wombourne, Wolverhampton, became the 2,000th store in the project.

"We realised that to guarantee a successful future we needed the help and support of a symbol group," said Sunny. "It's only been a few weeks but the tranformation has been immediate."

Landmark Wholesale in on course to reach its target of 2,350 conversions by April 2010, with plans in place for a further step change in development during the next financial year.
