A retailer from Shropshire was assaulted by a gang she disturbed robbing her store.
The retailer was asleep in the flat above Whittals store in Bishops Castle, but was woken by the gang smashing a window. When she went to investigate one of the gang struck her on the head before the group fled with £2,000-worth of cigarettes. The retailer was left shaken but not seriously injured.

A masked robber threatened staff with a knife during a robbery on a c-store in North Wales.
The robber, who was wearing a black balaclava, pointed the knife at staff at the Spar store in Garden City and demanded money from the tills. He fled in a Ford Sierra with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police in Hampshire are hunting for a masked man who held a c-store staff member at knifepoint.
The raider pointed a kitchen knife at an employee at the Alldays store in Chandler’s Ford and demanded cash. When the store assistant refused the robber grabbed a small quantity of cigarettes and ran out of the store.

Susan Withers, who runs the Londis store in Wivenhoe, challenged the raider after he demanded money.
She said: “I told him to not be so silly and that he should put the knife away and leave.”
The startled robber heeded her advice and fled.

Raiders tried to steal an ATM machine from the Londis store in Pewsey but ran off empty-handed when disturbed by the store’s owner Sam Patel, who lives nearby.
