Convenience Store's Top Shop 2005 winners Craig Dike and Adam Vincent have sold their Budgens business in Stoke-sub-Hamdon in Somerset to the Co-op Group.
The 3,000sq ft Montecute Road store opened for business as a Co-op on September 9, with all 12 staff transferring their employment to the Co-op.
The site has been owned by the Dike family since the 1940s and has evolved from a market garden to a convenience outlet. The shop was completely destroyed by a fire in 2004 and was rebuilt by the family before going on to win the Top Shop 2005 awards.
Family spokeswoman and Craig's mother, Sarah Dike, said: "It was the support of our customers that gave the family the will to persevere and rebuild the store. We managed to bring a positive from a negative and we're now proud to hand over to the Co-op and wish them well for the future."
The store will be converted to the Co-op's convenience format later this year.
