So many of you have rung to complain that your electricity and/or gas supplier has you on an unfair tariff that I thought some reminders might be in order.
Remember that it is all about paperwork, because it's all the same stuff that's coming down the pipes or over the wires. Here are three golden rules to follow.
Rule number one: suppliers always offer better deals to newcomers.
Rule number two: they make it devilishly difficult to get out of contracts once you are signed up.
Rule number three: threaten to quit anyway, as soon as you can, for a more favourable fee elsewhere. Result - they will probably reduce your bill even if they won't let you out of the contract until hell freezes over.
