Got a beef about your news wholesaler? Many do. Well, the Press Distribution Forum, which promotes self-regulation for all those involved in the supply and distribution of newspapers and magazines, has published a three-step guide to making a complaint. I’m sure you’ll tell me what you think of it.

The first step is an informal discussion with your wholesaler, which should resolve the issue within 48 hours (yes, yes, I can hear you call centres, deaf ears, and so on). So, on to step two then: contact the company responsible and use its fast-track resolution process, which should take no more than 14 days. Fingers’ crossed.

If this doesn’t work then you can refer it to independent arbitration - to the chairman of the Press Distribution Review Panel (PDRP), which promises to conclude matters within 14 days.

This is a free service so I urge you to use it. Have a look at for more information. I’m trying hard not to be cynical about this service. And they seem to be trying hard, too.
