Employee-owned wholesaler Parfetts has launched its first Go Local Extra store in London, with retailer Posikan Sivakumar.

The 1,725 sq.ft. store is located on Plaistow Lane in Bromley and is already drawing steady footfall from passing trade and nearby residents.

When Posikan took it on, he completed a full refit and was preparing to continue with the previous Londis fascia. That plan changed when he learned that Parfetts was making deliveries to retailers in the area.

Since reopening, the store has expanded its product range, introduced stronger promotions and refreshed its layout. A food to go section is also being created to meet the growing demand for quick meal solutions and to increase the store’s appeal to commuters and local families.

Posikan said: “I knew of Parfetts and Go Local but didn’t realise they were reaching this part of London. Once I understood what they offered, it was an easy decision.

“The support from the team and the strength of the promotions have made a real difference. We can already see the benefit in customer feedback and in the performance of the store. I’m looking forward to building on this strong start.”

As more independent retailers choose Parfetts, the business has enjoyed record growth, and the business has more than 30 new Go Local stores planned across the south coast and Greater London in the coming months, supported by its new Southampton depot.

Guy Swindell, joint MD at Parfetts, said: “London is a key part of our southern growth strategy, and opening our first Go Local Extra store in Bromley in addition to increasing our deliveries to existing retailers on a daily basis shows the scale of our ambition. This opening marks an important step for us.

“Working with Posikan has been a real pleasure, and the store transformation shows his drive and attention to detail. The early response from the community speaks for itself. We’re committed to supporting his plans for growth, and we’re proud to see our first Go Local Extra store in London already making its mark.”
