Spar Malone Road in Co. Antrim has picked up the top award in the industry by winning Convenience Retailer of the Year at The Convenience Awards 2026.
Held at the Rum Warehouse at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool at a ceremony hosted by broadcaster Cherry Healey, the top store award went to Spar Malone Road.
The judging panel of retail experts praised the team at Spar Malone Road for developing an unbeatable proposition and a ‘one stop shop’ that serves all of its customers needs as well as tremendous community outreach.
Celebrating the entire community, the Convenience Awards 2026 are powered by Convenience Store, Lumina Intelligence and The Grocer.
Convenience Store editor, Aidan Fortune, praised the finalists and winners. “The sector is operating in an incredibly tough trading environment and to see businesses go above and beyond in this fashion is inspiring. Spar Malone Road has been a category winner in the past and it’s tremendous to witness how the team at the store have upped their game and won the top prize in convenience retailing.”
Other winners on the night included Andre Salvidge of Morrisons Daily in Wivelsfield, who won Convenience Rising Star of the Year while Linzi Moore of Eurospar Cullybackey picked up Sales Colleague of the Year.
Research category award winners were also unveiled. These are the only awards in the sector that use data sourced from Lumina Intelligence’s Convenience Tracking Programme that tracks shopper behaviour continuously throughout the year. Britain’s Favourite Convenience Symbol Group and Britain’s Favourite Convenience Store Group was won by Spar, while Retailer’s Favourite Symbol Group was once again won by Go Local.
