Schweppes has partnered with Diageo to create 12 Christmas themed cocktails named the ‘12 Twists of Christmas’.

The effort taps into the growing trend of consumers experimenting with special drinks to celebrate the festive season at home with friends and family.

The cocktail recipes will feature on the back of Schweppes labels, providing recipes for consumers to master the perfect serve of cocktails including Merry Mule, Sour Sleigh Ride and Mistle-Sloe Gin. These new seasonal drinks are made using a mix of the Schweppes portfolio. To also meet the growing consumer trend for lighter cocktails, Schweppes has co-created five of the 12 festive recipes from the Slimline range; including Elderflower Tonic, Bitter Lemon, Ginger Ale, and Lemonade and Tonic.

Not only does this on-pack inspire shoppers with creative Christmas Cocktail ideas, it also encourages additional basket spend, by listing the ingredients needed to make their drink of choice. This includes the recommended alcohol brand and garnishes such as cloves, cinnamon sticks, pomegranate seeds, rosemary, olives, cranberries and mint. The recipes also have a ‘Pro’ option for shoppers who are a little more experimental and confident in crafting their drinks.

Schweppes, purchased by 1.9million consumers at Christmas (CGA Christmas Report 2015), will also be supporting the festive activity with out of home, digital and cinema advertising and POS for retailers.

Simon Harrison, commercial director for Schweppes at CCEP, said: “Consumers are looking for a quality, premium drink during the festive season that they can impress their guests with, and the new Schweppes ‘12 Twists of Christmas’ offers a fantastic choice of cocktails from the nation’s favourite mixer brand (AC Nielsen MAT to 02.07.16)”.
