Martin McColl has acquired six Somerfield Essentials stores in mid and north Scotland, taking the total number of convenience stores operating under the McColl's fascia to almost 400.
The six, all of which are below 2,000 sq ft, will be the first c-stores under the McColl's name in Scotland and will include Booze Buster off licences and ATMs.
General Manager Marketing Paul Taylor said that the company plans further expansion in Scotland and expects more acquisitions to follow soon.
Managing director Steve Wilkinson added that the company plans to grow its convenience store estate. "We aim to see half of our profits generated from our convenience stores by the end of 2007," he said.
