My regular correspondent Hitendra Patel rang from his Costcutter in Romford to tell me that he had been monitoring his parcel service. Over the course of two weeks he handled 30 parcels in and 35 parcels out.

“It’s a free service so maybe none of them brought any money with them, but out of the total two bought bread and milk, one was a regular customer anyway and another bought a lottery ticket. I also lost one phone top-up customer who was queuing behind a parcel collector and got impatient and left.”

He adds: “And how do you explain the lady who came with the return labels prepared and sent back straightaway whatever it was three times?”

His wife was not best pleased either by the customer who asked to borrow some Sellotape to send back a parcel.
