Syed Hassan Bradford Postmaster Spotlight Winner

As part of the its recent social media campaign, the Post Office invited branches to join the #PostOfficeChristmasMadeEasy TikTok competition, where they were challenged to showcase three festive services in three fun, entertaining videos.

Several postmasters took up the challenge, generating a combined total of 22,663 views on TikTok.

The overall winner was Sarah Ellis, a postmistress at Copperhouse Post Office in Hayle, Cornwall, with just over 6000 views across all challenges, while postmaster Syed Hassan, postmaster at Fartown Post Office and Mini Mart in Bradford, racked up an impressive 12.1K views in a standout single video promoting all three services.

The three main TikTok festive promotion challenges were International Posting Alerts, Gift Cards & Retail Gifts, and Click & Collect.

The views generated by the challenge display how TikTok can really help promote Post Office Christmas products and services during the busiest time of the year for branches.

While Sarah’s performance across multiple challenges earned her the overall winner title, Bradford’s Syed Hassan, said: “I wasn’t expecting so many views – it feels great, and it’s made a massive difference to sales.”

Syed’s TikTok entry combined all three festive services into one video, a bold move that paid off. He said: “I was surprised that lots of people didn’t know that we do international posting or the cut off dates. Just by watching my TikTok video, so many more customers have been coming to do their international posting and buying gift cards.”

Social media quickly became part of Syed’s strategy when he took on his branch: “I didn’t get a huge response when I used leaflets to promote our services, but the response I got by promoting on TikTok and social media is absolutely crazy.

“You’ve got to keep trying… when I started, we just had 20 or 30 people. But you’ve got to ask people to follow you as well. You shouldn’t be shy, just say, ‘Can you just give us a like?’ Because you’re helping yourself, your business, and you’re helping the community as well to understand what services you offer.”
