The end of August signals a huge in-flux of usually teenage shoppers in Reading, all there to attend the annual music festival that takes place on the town’s Richfield Avenue.
Around 100k music fans are set to descend on the site across three days, with shops in the area already stocking up on alcohol, snacks and even camping goods the enormous temporary market will need.
This week, the Premier Convenience Store on Caversham Road - which opened in 2023 - received a positive response to its application to sell alcohol for extended hours, allowing it to make the most of festival-goers making their way to and from the site.
Located just a ten-minute walk away, the store can sell alcohol from 6am to midnight each night over the weekend of 27-30 August, following a successful application to Reading Borough Council. Previously, it could only be sold at the store until 11pm each day.
While revellers are allowed to take drinks into the campsite, they’re not permitted to take them into the arena, where drinks must be purchased from permitted bars.
The Premier store is located near the Caversham Bridge roundabout, opposite the Village Hotel.
