A fourth-generation family forecourt business has officially launched two new Spar stores under Blakemore Trade Partners’ BTP+ fascia - Spar Broadstairs and Spar Barham Services.
The move strengthens Spar’s growing presence across high-traffic forecourt locations, it said.
The Broadstairs forecourt has been in the family since approximately 1940, with the Barham site purchased in 2012. Both underwent complete refits in 2021/22, and the family said it’s now excited for the next stage as they refurbish. The two new Spars are described as two “very different, high-volume stores.”
Spar Broadstairs is a neighbourhood forecourt with strong walk-in footfall, and a loyal mix of local and tourist customers.
Spar Barham Services sits on a major A-road leading to the Channel Tunnel, serving significant passing trade and delivering a large food-to-go offer, which is a key sales driver for the site.

The move allows the stores to offer single-pick items, a significantly expanded chilled range and strong value lines. The family expects the Iceland range and Spar’s ‘3 for £9’ meat deal to be particularly popular.
Early customer feedback has been positive, with locals expressing excitement about seeing a Spar offer in the area.
Annabel du Plessis, the fourth generation of the family to run the business, said: “We were immediately impressed with Spar and the team. They offered a depth of range and a flexibility that’s allowed us to make our stores the best they can be.
“Coming from a family business, I appreciate that Blakemore is also still run by the family, who are clearly invested in seeing retailers succeed.
”We’ve had great support from the Spar team in terms of range and layout, with lots of fresh ideas we’re keen to implement.”
