PepsiCo is warming up winter with the launch of a Doritos Dinamita Festive Fund, giving five convenience retailers the chance to win cash prizes to put towards a community event or local causes.
The £2,000 Festive Fund will be split to offer one store a £750 share, one £500 and three more £250 each, enabling retailers a little helping hand in engaging with their local shoppers, either during the holiday season or in the quieter period post-Christmas.
Running from to 5 December, retailers can enter by visiting the *shopt app and completing a short form with details about their potential event or cause, with the winners selected at random. Five stores will receive the cash contribution towards an existing event in their local area or to set up their own community event.
They will also receive a case of Doritos Dinamita to drive trial and create excitement over the festive season. A further 10 stores will win Doritos Dinamita POS materials to display.
PepsiCo reports that last December saw a record spike in online searches for “convenience stores near me,” demonstrating the importance of local stores to the community during the holiday season. The Festive Fund giveaway helps retailers make the most of the seasonal demand, giving them the opportunity to bring flavour and fun to the new year.
Ed Merrett, wholesale controller at PepsiCo, said: “Spicy snacks and seasonal sales go hand in hand, so it made perfect sense for Doritos Dinamita to unveil this prize fund and support retailers in engaging with their local communities.
“It not only gives our retail customers a chance to win a meaningful prize and reaffirm their role as pillars of their community, but also to use Doritos Dinamita to create excitement in their stores. We see so many retailers putting on fantastic events for their communities all year round, and we’re delighted to have the chance to support more stores in doing so.”

Atul Sodha (left), owner of Londis Harefield, is regularly involved in local events, selling product and providing hot food options.
Atul added: “We recently got involved in a local fireworks event and in doing so it’s a win-win all round. We’ve built a relationship over the last four year with the local school PTA and this has really helped us cement our position in the community.
“We had the chance to connect with our local shoppers at the fireworks event and served our hot dogs, burgers and samosas. All this is available in-store and so we’re broadening our audience.
“Any support from suppliers in helping retailers do more of this is welcomed and the PepsiCo initiative’s flexibility means that stores can plan ahead for early next year too, when we know it can be slower after Christmas I’d urge more stores to get involved in engaging communities in this way, it’s only beneficial to your business.”
Alongside the competition, PepsiCo is offering a £10 *shopt credit incentive throughout November exclusively to retailers who don’t currently stock or have not previously ordered Doritos Dinamita and Extra Flamin’ Hot, when they place qualifying orders for these products. Retailers can visit the *shopt app to find out more.
It follows a successful launch year for Doritos Dinamita, which rolled out in February and remains an exclusive to the convenience channel as a £1.35 pricemarked pack.
