Barratt’s Sweet Shop brand has joined forces with Skateboard GB as part of a four-year programme set to “take skateboarding in the UK to the next level,” it says.
Dovetailing perfectly with the LA 2028 Olympic Games, the partnership is on a mission to make skateboarding more accessible, more creative, and “a whole lot sweeter,” Barratt said.
Earlier this year Skateboard GB announced plans to audit skateparks, grow coaching opportunities and open up the talent pathway. In year one, a range of Barratt Sweet Shop product packs will feature QR codes that link directly to the MySkate app, a free tool that maps over 3,000 skateparks and skate spots across the UK. The extra investment will give the app even more features, helping young people discover places to skate, play and connect with friends.
James Hope-Gill, CEO at Skateboard GB, said “The venture will enable the organisation to grow beyond what we had planned and help support more skateboarders around the country.”
Adding onto this, Michael Inpong, chief marketing officer at supplier Valeo Foods UK, said: “Barratt Sweet Shop founder George Barratt started out as a 21-year-old entrepreneur in Shoreditch full of ideas and a passion for creativity. That same energy is what we see in skateboarding today.
”This partnership is about celebrating boldness, fun and self-expression, whether that’s landing a trick or sharing something sweet with friends.”
