Spar UK has secured a deal with two major forecourt operators, adding more than 40 stores.
The first of these deals will see Pace Petroleum switching 22 stores from Budgens to Spar. The group said that the conversion process would begin immediately and be completed by the end of July.
Spar entered into negotiations with Pace/Malthurst at the beginning of 2006 and was informed it was looking for an alternative supply solution to its 22 Budgens sites.
Spar retail director Richard Bennett said: "We are delighted to be chosen as Pace/Malthurst's partners for these 22 sites, which represent some £18.7m sales per annum. This new partnership reflects the confidence that Pace/Malthurst has in developing its business with the Spar brand."
It also close to agreeing a deal with a second operator for a similar sized deal, but is yet to identify the operator involved. Both deals will push the number of Spar forecourt stores from its current 438 sites to almost 500.
