Northamptonshire-based retailer Vidur Pandya turned up the heat this week with his first ever in-store activation.
Spotlighting the launch of channel exclusive Doritos Dinamita, Vidur is “over the moon” by the results he’s seen at his Kislingbury Village Store. On Wednesday between 10am and 4pm, over 80 packs of the fiery snack had sold, he told Convenience Store.
Regulars knew something hot was crunchin’ when they walked in store thanks to “attractive” POS from PepsiCo, Vidur said. “These activations are amazing because it brings something different to the community,” he added.
Currently in store is a Spin the Wheel FSDU that gives shoppers the opportunity to win Dinamita-themed prizes. By sharing the fun on the store’s Facebook page, Vidur said he successfully “tracted high footfall and strong engagement”.
He mentioned that he launched the main activation on Tuesday, but is gradually introducing parts of it throughout the week to ignite shopper excitement.
“I’ve only been running my own store for three years. It’s really exciting to see how it [the activation] would go. I didn’t expect the traction I’ve recieved. I’m over the moon with the footfall I’ve had, especially since posting the videos online,” explained Vidur.
Vidur recently started working with PepsiCo as part of PR agency Cirkle’s Retailer Inner Cirkle. The group collaborates with independent retailers to plan in-store activations and develop POS tailored to individual stores. He opted for two smaller FSDUs, which fit the needs of his village store “nestled in a conservation area”.
This is just the start for Vidur, who plans to engage in further collaborations with brands and suppliers thanks to the “confident experience from PepsiCo,” he said.
Doritos Dinamita is the newest addition to PepsiCo’s Extra Flamin Hot range which has already seen Doritos, Walkers Max and Wotsits Crunchy turn spicy.
