Squbes, the seed cube brand, has extended its range into the sweet category by introducing two new flavours: dark chocolate with coconut & sea salt and salted caramel & almond.

Made without refined sugar, the new flavours deliver a guilt-free sweet option that bring depth and variety to the range. The new additions come in 30g packets (RRP £1.40) – for convenient snacking on-the-go, and 100g re-sealable pouches (RRP £3.50).

According to Mintel’s recent British snacking report (http://www.mintel.com/press-centre/food-and-drink/brits-relax-on-snacks-consumers-cut-down-on-snacking-as-less-than-a-third-29-now-eat-sweets-between-meals), there is a strong demand for healthier snacks, with 70% of consumers agreeing that manufacturers should do more to reduce refined sugar in snacks. Squbes are made with natural, and healthy ingredients that are gluten-free, a source of protein and high in fibre. The dark chocolate with coconut & sea salt flavour features a mixture of sunflower seeds, chia seeds, sugar free dark chocolate, crisped rice, almonds, coconut, sea salt and pea protein crisps. The salted caramel & almond flavour features sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, almonds, crisped rice, quinoa and pea protein. Both varieties contain 137 calories per 25g, and are suitable for vegetarians.

Helen O Dowd, qualified nutritionist, food scientist and founding director for Virginia Health Foods, said: “After we sampled the two new sweet varieties at this year’s Lunch! Show, both varieties received a fantastic response which has lead us to forging new relations within the market place. We are excited to extend our savoury range into the sweet category and we are confident the new flavours will be well received in the UK. Squbes sweet range is designed to keep the snacking market exciting and we hope that these guilt-free flavours will be a hit with retailers.”
