Following on from the news of its brand refresh, dessert maker Gü has announced it is expanding its premium chilled portfolio with a Salted Pistachio Cheesecake, tapping into “one of the fastest growing flavour trends in desserts.”
The new addition combines Gü’s indulgence with a flavour profile that it says is is winning over consumers globally.
The four-layered dessert features a double-cocoa biscuit base, a layer of mascarpone cheesecake and a smooth pistachio crème crafted from Italian pistachio paste. The dessert is topped with a sprinkle of salted chocolate crocant (crunchy in French) for a final touch of texture.
The launch supports Gü’s ongoing strategy to “grow the chilled desserts category by introducing premium and flavour-forward NPD for consumers to enjoy,” it said.
Fred Ponnavoy, head chef at Gü, said: “Pistachio is a flavour our consumers tell us they want more of, and we’ve spent months perfecting a recipe that allows its delicate, nutty notes to shine.
“We’ve used generous amounts of Italian pistachio paste and added a touch of salted crocant for contrast. It’s a flavour combination that feels both classic and completely new and our kitchen team are already nuts for it.”
Available in a two-pack ramekin format with an RRP of £3.95, the desserts are launching in Sainsburys initially, with other retailers to follow shortly.
