Brookfield Drinks has introduced Diamond Black cider, a new ‘artisan amber’ variant to sit alongside the recently relaunched Diamond White.

The 8% ABV product comes in a 500ml can (rrp £1.49) and is the first variant of a new range of ciders planned under the Diamond brand.

It will be marketed with Diamond’s new ‘diamond apple’ logo with a red, black and gold branding.

“Cider is back in fashion and we believe that the artisan Diamond Black variant will be a big hit with both existing customers looking to try something different, and new customers enjoying cider for the first time,” said Nigel McNally, managing director of Brookfield Drinks.

“The launch marks the first of a range of Diamond variants which we are planning to bring to the market.”

He said the product had been specifically created to fall within the Portman Group’s guidelines, “which is no more than four units of alcohol per 50cl can”. Diamond Black is described as having a “sophisticatedly fruity nose and robust flavours, with a tantalisingly dry mouthfeel”.

Brookfield Drinks is also adding Black Star, an amber variant of its White Star cider. The 7.5% ABV variant will be sold in 500ml, £1 pricemarked cans.
