Costcutter has created a new role in its management structure in a bid to boost local sourcing.
Adam Walker has taken up the new post of trading manager for regional suppliers. The group is also communicating its commitment to local produce with a specially created logo and leaflet for retailers to hand out to customers.
Walker said: "I look forward to contributing to Costcutter's continual growth. This is an exciting time for local suppliers with today's consumer even more aware of issues such as food miles and carbon footprints as well as ingredients and quality. I look forward to building strong relationships between these suppliers, Costcutter and its members."
