The crisps, snacks and nuts take-home market in the UK is worth £6.459Bn annually.
The market is dominated by the crisps category, with nuts the next biggest category. Market value sales have increased over the last 12 months (L12M), up +1.8% vs last year (LY). Market value growth over last year is exclusively driven by price, with unit sales down vs LY in the L12M, by -1.3%. Units declined more sharply year on year (YOY) in Crisps (-1.8%) whereas in Nuts (+0.7%) and popcorn (+0.3%), unit sales increased YOY.

All the categories saw both unit and average price per kg increases over the L12M, with market average price per kg up by 2.8% vs LY and average unit price up by 3.2% vs LY. The market is dominated by the Major Multiple Grocer supermarkets which have 71.2% value share of the market. The Symbols and Independent channel has a 12.3% value share of the market, which represents a significant value share over trade compared to the channel share of the food market making the crisps, snacks and nuts market an important market for Symbols & independents. However, Symbols and Independents are losing share of the market, losing -0.3PP of value share in the L12M vs LY to Supermarkets which grew share by +0.3PP as shoppers gravitate to the cheaper price per KG, bigger packs available in Supermarkets due to cost of living pressure.
