Spar wholesaler Capper & Co has introduced a programme to help its 105 stores get involved in community projects.

While the company has in the past donated money and employees’ time to local communities on an ad hoc basis, the new Rooted in the Community programme establishes an integrated process to select and reward projects which best meet local needs.

Retail sales director Alun Williams said: “Local people are the lifeline of every store and it is important that we engage with our communities to ensure the stores support local people in the neighbourhoods we serve.”

The programme will see more than £50,000 put aside for chosen projects this year.
