The word means many things: minor sea god; satellite of Neptune; big mollusc (you can tell I've been at the dictionary) and, yes, cheap top-ups.
A few issues back I was puzzling through the intricacies of the Alphyra group for readers who were puzzled by bills with logos for Payzone, Triton, PostTS and Alphyra on them. Which was which and was it true that Triton offered better margins?
I posed the question and have the answer. Paul Charmatz, sales and marketing director for Payzone, writes: "Triton is indeed part of Alphyra, the same company that owns the Payzone brand. Triton is a simple mobile top-up only, giving retailers a 1% better margin than
any other provider... but just for mobile top-ups."
