South Yorkshire Police have issued an appeal for witnesses, following ram raids on four commercial properties, including two convenience stores and a petrol station in Sheffield.

The incidents happened at a Texaco petrol station on Burncross Road in the suburb of Chapeltown, a Tesco Express on Dykes Hall Road in Hillsborough and a Spar store on Pot House Lane in Stocksbridge at around 2:45am, 4am and 4:45am respectively on the 11 February.

Officers believe that the incidents are linked.

Two cars, a blue coloured Vauxhall Vectra and a Skoda Roomster, which are thought to have been used by the offenders have been recovered and are being examined by officers.

Investigating officer, DC James Hughes, said: “We are currently reviewing CCTV as part of our enquiries, but I would like to make an appeal to the public to contact us if they saw what happened, or if they have any information that might help us.”

The incidents are amongst a number of recent attempted ram raids in Sheffield, including two occurrences at other Tesco stores last week in Upperthorpe and Southey.
