Police are investigating a cash machine burglary at a Spar store in the West Midlands, while the shop was still open with staff and shoppers inside.

The incident happened at the store on Brook Farm Walk in the town of Chelmsley Wood just before 10pm on 30 January.

According to police, the front window of the store was smashed, before a cash machine was removed from inside the premises by a number of people, while the store was still open.

The incident followed a number of recent ATM thefts across the UK in the last 12 months, including an attempted ATM ram raid at a Spar store in Moray and an ATM explosion outside a Premier store in Clydebank.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight or call 101 anytime. Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111. Quote crime reference 20SH/25723R/19.
