North London retailer Andrew Thornton has renewed calls for major manufacturers to “get on board” his plastic-free revolution after unveiling an ‘unpackaged’ range of 200 products in his Thornton’s Budgens store.
Budgens is in “great shape” after recruiting 70 stores in the past year and expanding in to 12 new counties, according to brand director Mike Baker.
Almost three-quarters (73%) of British shoppers prefer to buy products with environmentally-friendly packaging, according to IRI’s European Shopper Insights Survey.
