Amish Shingadia, owner of Londis Caterways in Horsham, West Sussex, is generating extra sales and fighting off the competition with his new to-go offer.
He says: ”We’ve recently brought in a new range of hot food from Ginsters to improve our food to go range. We are one of the first stores in the country to try the new products and are excited to see what customers will make of them.
“The new range is launching in store ahead of the introduction of our new Costa coffee machine in February. The changes are designed to improve our to-go offer, which is currently made in-store and promoted with digital screens at the front of our shop. We’re running tastings and looking to update our meal deal promotions to promote the new lines too.
“Our customers seem to be responding well to our growing offer and food-to-go now makes up 8% of our overall business. It’s a fast moving and growing category, which is why we have to offer something that people can’t get anywhere else.
“We have a lot of competition around us, including two Co-ops, a Budgens and several supermarkets. In order to compete in such a crowded market, we are going to bring in a microwave that people can use to cook food and heat up their Rustlers. This is something that our competitors don’t currently offer.
Star performers: “Our Cooks frozen range has been really popular with our customers throughout the winter. Our off licence is also performing strongly.”
Successful NPD: “We’ve updated our vaping range in the last year and have been running promotions on JTI’s Logic Pro 2, which has been a really good new product launch.”
JTI’s vaping brand Logic launched its updated Logic Pro 2 capsule device in October last year.
The next generation matte black device (rrp £12.50) features a soft touch finish, lighter weight and improved charging time when compared to its predecessor. The device is made using a 650 mAh battery that can fully charge in 100 minutes and lasts 24 hours.
Logic Pro 2 also uses the same smart capsules as the Logic Pro, which are sold in packs of three (rrp £4.50). The product is available in a variety of strengths and six flavours: tobacco; menthol; cherry; vanilla; berry; mint; and strawberry.
