Snack maker Metcalfe’s is aiming to add some variety to retailers’ snacking displays with Jumbles: a line-up that combines popcorn with traditional dessert flavours.

Metcalfes Popcorn Jumbles

Launching into convenience stores from January 2020 and available in two flavour combinations: toffee apple; and eton mess, the Jumbles (rrp £1.79) are designed to expand Metcalfe’s reach in the sharable lighter snacks market.

The range uses real fruit pieces, is gluten-free, suitable for vegetarians, high in fibre and made without artificial flavours and colours. The toffee apple variant is 107 calories per portion, while the eton mess combo is less calorific at 80 calories per serving.

Anthony Reeson, development manager at Metcalfe’s, said: “Our innovation team took on the enviable challenge of adding joy to our very best butterfly popcorn to recreate these classic and fun favourites, without the guilt. Creating a lighter option without compromising on great taste meant that we had to consume quite a few treats to help develop the perfect product!”
