Only 3,000 copies of the new Penguin collaborative joke book will be made available to stores.

Snack suppler Pladis has announced the perfect Penguin partnership - McVitie’s Penguin Biscuits and Penguin Books have created The Book of Penguin Jokes.

The limited-edition A5 publication is filled with Penguin Biscuit jokes and marks the first hardback tri-band publication (the distinctive colour-block covers) in Penguin Books’ 90-year history.

The special edition celebrates the shared heritage of two beloved British brands, created to commemorate the National Year of Reading 2026.

The Book of Penguin Jokes also has a foreword written by children’s author and former Children’s Laureate, Michael Rosen. And brings together a selection of the cheeky one-liners that have delighted Penguin biscuit fans for generations, alongside a collection of brand-new jokes specially commissioned for the book.

James King, marketing director at Pladis UK&I, said: “For generations, McVitie’s Penguin biscuits have been making people smile with the jokes inside every wrapper, while Penguin Books has inspired millions through the joy of reading.

“We’re incredibly proud to bring these two iconic brands together to celebrate the National Year of Reading with a collectable item that gives fans another reason to embrace those shared moments of curiosity, silliness and laughter.”

Shoppers can win one of 3,000 copies of the book via promotional McVitie’s Penguin packs, available across supermarkets, wholesalers and convenience stores nation-wide from 3 August, subject to availability. Up to 20,000 Google Play audiobooks are also available to win via the biscuit packs.
