A Spar store near Preston has just re-opened following its six-figure refurbishment.

Independent retailer Bhavesh Parekh - who also owns Spar stores in Gregson Lane and Southport, has taken over the Victoria Terrace store in Lostock Hall near Preston and put his stamp on the store to include an improved Post Office counter.

Store staff have been retained during the change of ownership, with them all now trained to operate the counters to improve the service.

Post Office services include letter and parcel handling, parcel and online order collections, business mail and shipping and DHL and DPD services and more.

There now is also an enhanced range of Spar Price Locked products, with hundreds of key products with fixed prices across ambient, fresh and frozen ranges.

The Cook range of frozen ready meals have also been introduced, while popular existing ranges including English Lakes Ice Cream have been extended, alongside high quality local fresh meats.

The refurbishment has also seen electronic shelf edge labels introduced, as well as modern energy efficient refrigeration, shelving, and bright LED lighting.

In terms of the local community, Bhavesh went action just before Christmas with a donation of advent calendars for the children’s party held at the Wishing Well pub, and is looking to support the local community further as time goes on.

Bhavesh said: “I’m delighted with the results of the investment and the store has a real vibrant, clean, modern feel to it.

“The changes - particularly to the Post Office counter - are hugely positive. The opening hours of the counter are now more than double what they were previously which is a massive bonus for the community.

“I’ve also enhanced the range of fresh meats customers like, and I increased the range of Price Locked products. I’m settling into the community and look forward to welcoming new customers through the doors in 2026 and supporting their needs.”
